Frequently asked questions
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture uses ultra-fine stainless steel needles that generally do not cause pain. Most describe the insertion as a slight pinch that does not last long, followed by a sensation of heaviness, tingling or warmth. The sensation felt is what will bring the body into a relaxed state.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Eastern Medicine treatments are individualized, taking into account your unique needs, the duration of your condition, and your personal treatment goals. The time it takes to feel better varies, as our goal is to help restore balance and address the root cause of your symptoms. Changes may be noticeable after as few as 2 sessions.
What should I wear?
Please wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing (such as a tank top, shorts, or athletic shoes) to allow for easy movement and evaluation. For lower body evaluations, wear shorts or loose-fitting pants for proper access to the area. For upper body evaluations, a tank top or loose short-sleeve shirt is recommended to avoid needing a gown and to allow access to areas like the shoulder, elbow, or neck.
Do you take Insurance?
While we are unable to accept insurance at this time, Expanse Wellness strives to make alternative healthcare more accessible. While we’re an "out-of-network provider" and don’t bill insurance directly, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance, which may reimburse you directly. Our services may also be covered by your FSA or HSA, and we’ll provide a receipt for those submissions.
Payment is due at the time of service, and we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and cash. Thank you for choosing Expanse Wellness.
Do I need a Physician’s Referral for Physical Therapy or Acupuncture?
You do not need a physician referral to receive acupuncture treatments. Patients can access physical therapy services directly without a physician referral known as “Direct Access”. Patients are allowed to be seen for initial evaluation and can be treated up to 10 visits or 45 calendar days, whichever comes first without a prescription from a physician. At the end of 45 days, if further physical therapy services are necessary, a prescription is required.
